Welcome

The Mission

The Issue

Welcome to Playing with the wind. If you'd like to find out about the work we do, adopt or sponsor one of our animals, or make a donation, you've come to the right place! Take a look around, meet the gang and join us in helping animals in need.

The Issue

The Mission

The Issue

Social and political changes in Bulgaria over the years have meant many animals, particularly cats and dogs are abandoned and end up on the streets, attempting to fend for themselves; inevitably sustaining injury, disability and illness through neglect or persecution. Old and run down state shelters are inadequate in both space and facilities to meet the demand faced by an ever increasing population of unwanted and surplus animals. Many large animals are still used for working purposes, such as pulling carts and working the land. Much ignorance about their husbandry and welbeing exists.

The Mission

The Mission

The Mission

Our purpose Here at playing with the wind is to encourage and produce change by giving shelter, medical care, rehabilitation and training within our sanctuary whilst providing a neutering, vaccination and anti parasite programme for local street dogs.

We aim to provide help, information and 24 hour support to all prospective and current animal parents creating training programmes, advice and help both in house and home visits.

To work with Mayor, police and relevant authorities to encourage neutering and uphold welfare laws.

Help Lucy and animals like her here at PWtW

Over 50% of our santuary residents are disabled, old or suffer from incurable illnesses requiring permenant, regular medication and therapy.

Dogs like Lucy, whose spine is severed making her paralysed. Beaten, shot or hit by vehicles whilst trying to survive on the streets, these animals need care and a permenant safe space to stay.

Animals like Lucy need medication, nappies, inco-pads, cleaning materials like wet wipes etc special lifting aids and wheels.

Could you consider sponsoring, signing up to our teaming group or simply making a one off donation to help us continue to care?
